The story behind Feng Shui Almanac
I’m Jean-Luc, founder of Feng Shui Almanac.
I’m a scientist by training, a Feng Shui practitioner, and someone who enjoys making things.
Feng Shui Almanac grew out of my own experience: learning, experimenting, working with clients, and finding that keeping their recommendations up to date took more and more time.

01 / THE BEGINING
Learning to fly
My introduction to Feng Shui came in 2007 at Institut Vajra Yogini, where I translated a course from English into French for Venerable Jampa, an Australian Tibetan Buddhist monk.
The Flying Stars immediately caught my attention. Their numbers, patterns and changing cycles had a mysterious quality—almost like a code I wanted to understand. With my background in science, I also wanted to explore what those ideas meant in practice.
I continued through books and hands-on experience, applying what I learned in my own home, then for friends and clients. There were encouraging moments, and mistakes that taught me to be more careful.
02 / HANDS-ON PRACTICE
Learning by making
One early experience stayed with me. About twenty minutes after switching on a fountain I had built for the wealth sector of my apartment, I received an unexpected call asking for my first paid consultation. I took that coincidence as encouragement to keep exploring.
The fountain itself didn’t last long, its design needed work. I went on to design and build other fountains and outdoor water features, including those pictured below.
That combination of curiosity, practical work and learning from mistakes has remained part of my approach.

03 / A PRACTICAL NEED
When keeping track became the challenge
As clients returned for updates, a practical difficulty became clear. Every property has its own configuration, and the relevant Flying Star cycles change over time. Keeping track of those combinations across several clients was becoming cumbersome.
A consultation could provide a starting point, but recommendations involving temporary influences needed follow-up. I wanted a manageable way to keep that relationship going, with timely updates rather than repeated manual checks.
I had previously used an app to help with the calculations. When it disappeared, I spent several years thinking about building my own.
04 / BUILT IN 2025
From a personal tool to Feng Shui Almanac
In 2025, I finally started building it. My first goal was personal: calculate the changing star combinations and identify the periods I wanted to follow in my own practice.
Once the calculation engine was working, I saw a broader use for it. The same tool could help consultants manage their clients’ configurations and send updates automatically.
That became Feng Shui Almanac.
Why I built it
Staying connected beyond the consultation
My aim is to make ongoing client care easier to offer. Consultants can bring their own judgement and recommendations, while the platform helps with tracking the cycles and communicating updates.
For clients, that means continued guidance after the initial consultation. For practitioners, it creates the opportunity to offer a continuing service and build longer-term client relationships.
I built Feng Shui Almanac because I needed a practical way to do this myself. I hope it helps you make more room for the part of your practice that matters most: working with people.
